Addressing the current state of medical cannabis and future industry opportunity
We have the unequivocal sense that nothing is more important than building a better system for society. The precedent we set to relentlessly focus on clients and patients is what sets us apart from others. Our industry leadership has been exemplary, but when we compare what we have accomplished with what remains to be done, then we grandly envision the opportunity that is ours to create. When we consider that a prescription drug overdose occurs every 19 minutes when there’s not been 1 overdose related to medical marijuana, an inkling comes of how much wonderful development is ahead.
The popular pot perception has evolved drastically in the past decade. However, integration lingers nationwide when we talk about normalizing medical marijuana into our healthcare systems.
On the other hand, industrial hemp has been revived by Congress after passing the 2018 Farm Bill. Hemp produces CBD which is the anti-inflammatory, pain-relieving chemical that originates in the plant. In recent weeks, we have seen CVS and Walgreens pledge to take a stance to dispense CBD substances throughout their retail chains in the future.
It is easy to recognize the projected revenue of $22 billion by 2022 or the 25% compound annual growth rate this sector promises over that span. Still, money and goods are only means to an end. The natural thing we must do is work to recognize that prosperity and healthiness can be obtained only through honest effort.
We have only started on our advancement. It is hard to believe that after decades of illegality, there is a cannabis related drug available to patients. In fact, the FDA-approved Epidiolex is the first and only approved prescription CBD drug for epileptic seizures.
The FDA has shown a commitment to support rigorous scientific research on the potential medical uses of cannabis-derived products. They stand ready to work with product developers who are interested in bringing patients safe and effective, high quality products. From a data driven, public policy decision it just makes sense.
We believe that hard work and big ideas are hallmarks of our heritage and will build our legacy of leadership. We have the drive to ensure people everywhere can access novel cannabis medicine that has been thoroughly studied in clinical trials, manufactured to assure quality and consistency, and is eligible to be covered by insurance. As we wait, we’ll find ample opportunity to create the greatest value for all industry stakeholders.
Gateway Hemporium is an opportunistic wellness company. Where others see problems, we see potential. We dare to imagine a better industrial system. We honor valuable ideals, and we will aim high and achieve higher.
We look forward to creating an environment where people everywhere can dream and achieve.
